Mediator Training Course10/04 On March 22 fourteen eager delegates (four of them committee members of the North West branch) began a five day marathon to train as mediators.
They had to abandon habits of a lifetime in order to learn new skills. By day three they were busy practising the art of asking “open questions”. They all realised that the role of mediator is not an easy one. By the end of day five they were all raring to put their new found skills into practice.
Here are a couple of quotes from the feedback forms:
“Excellent course. These are more than mediator skills; they are life skills”
“A powerful learning experience”
“A thoroughly challenging and rewarding five days”
This was the first time the NW Branch has run this course. It was also the most ambitious training event by far to have been run by the Branch. Much thanks go to Mark Mattison, a member of the Branch Committee, and himself a highly respected mediator, for his work in organising the event.
